“I’ll tell you one thing for sure: once you get to the point where you’re actually doing things for truth’s sake, then nobody can ever touch you again because you’re harmonizing with a greater power.”
~ George Harrison

You might recall around the first of the year I said I wanted to start playing music again. About two weeks later I got a call from my old friend Neil Sturgill. Neil and I played in a rock and roll band with Fred Sexton when I was in college. Fast forward roughly 25 years and a few kids (Neil’s) later, and Neil and Fred were jamming with a couple of other guys, Pat and Travis. The four friends were looking for a drummer. We’ve been trying to get together for over a month, and tonight, we finally managed it along with pianist Jeff Yurkoski of Velvet Elvis fame (you might need to be from Lexington or be really knowledgeable in 1980’s major label music to recognize the name). It was absolutely wonderful to see and play with Neil and Fred again. I’m rusty as all get out, but they were as sweet to me as ever and I think they had a good time, too. Ask for what you want, and the universe will hear you. Boy, did it ever feel good to play again.
