“An adventurous life doesn’t necessarily mean climbing mountains,
swimming with sharks, or jumping off cliffs. It means risking yourself by leaving a little piece of you
behind in all those you meet along the way.”
~ Shawna Grapentin

In Pike County, where highways 119/23 and 460 split, they’ve blown up and hauled off a mountain to create the interchange. You don’t get a true sense for just how big this is in these photos. I’d love to know the mountain’s name and see what it looked like before they tore it down and put up an American flag. It doesn’t have a single piece of vegetation, like a moonscape. It’s both an amazing feat of engineering and a pitiful symbol of how expendable our natural beauty is. I appreciate how quickly we can travel the mountains because of these advancements. I just wish we could find a less destructive way to do it.
