“If you limit your choice only to what seems possible or reasonable, you disconnect yourself from what you truly want, and all that is left is a compromise.” ~ Robert Fritz

Abby Bartlett celebrated her eighth birthday. Yours truly was invited to her party today at Kid’s Place. I’d never been there before. It has a huge jungle gym. The Bartlett’s and I mused at the fact that we didn’t have any such place growing up. Our jungle gyms were the woods and the monkey bars at school.

These kids were inside and didn’t seem to suffer one bit from it. They had a blast. One of the funniest parts of the party was Abby trying to blow out her candles. I think she was just afraid to blow too hard. Before pizza and cake, though, the kids were busy playing games. This place is full of games. I don’t know what Abby’s favorite game was, but my favorite was photographing Abby and her friends in the photo booth.

Abby is such a sweet girl. She’s smart and compassionate. I overheard one of the parents telling Jen, Abby’s mom, how she’s concerned that her daughter doesn’t read as well as Abby. Then, when the kids were high up in the jungle gym, one of Abby’s friends freaked out when a bridge she needed to cross suddenly looked scary. Abby went back for her, offering her hand. Bryan and Jen Bartlett are raising a truly wonderful child, and I’m certain she’ll grown into an incredible young lady, and fantastic adult. I’m so proud to know her. Her mom and dad ain’t too bad either. I’m so lucky to have them all in my life.
