Life is too short to worry about stupid things. Have fun. Fall in love. Regret nothing, and don’t let people bring you down.” ~ Unknown

The cats never go outside unsupervised. In gorgeous spring weather they beg to be in the sun. Who could blame them. Lily was basking in the driveway when I heard a distant voice exclaim, “Boo!” I looked up to see a young woman crossing the street with the biggest smile on her face. It was the young woman who five years ago gave Lily to me forever. The woman and her sister had found Lily abandoned when she was just three months old. They brought her home to live sequestered in the bathroom, away from their five dogs. They called her Boo. Soon after, I found Lily (Boo) sitting on my porch. She was home.

The girl even remembered my beloved One-Eye Jack. She pointed to Leo and asked, “That’s your one eyed cat?” “No,” I said, with a slight pause, “he’s buried under the pine tree. That’s Leo. He has two eyes,” I said as he looked at us. Odd moment.

The sweet girl, whose name I can’t remember, has moved back into the house across the street where she lived those years ago with her sister. Now, she shares it with her husband and baby. It’s good to have her back. Maybe I’ll remember her name eventually.
