This is the new sculpture installed across from Memorial Coliseum in what’s now called “Alumni Plaza”. Maybe it was called “Alumni Plaza” when it was still big humps of dirt with tacky shrubs, I don’t know. In any case, the wildcat is typical fare for UK, but it actually looks nice. What we lose in thick body and somewhat awkward stance, we gain in its kind and expressive face. The eyes are particularly impressive. I was hoping it would be centered in a shallow pool but, clearly, that’s not what they chose to do. Good thing the sculpture is excellent.
