“Be miserable. Or motivate yourself. Whatever has to be done, it’s always your choice.”

It stormed all night. It has stormed most of the day, too. It has rained so hard the houses across the street were barely visible at times. I was watching a Myth Hunters episode on Noah’s Ark during a downpour. It is long believed to have settled on Mt. Ararat (TV screen). Oh, the irony. Meanwhile, back in Kentucky, city streets are closed due to high water. Poor Louisville, the parts of it that aren’t burning (see: GE Factory fire), are floating down the Ohio. The rest of state is washing off, too. It’s a very different day than it was in 2011; the day we celebrated Lance’s 56th birthday. It was to be his last. He would have been Sixty today. No doubt the birthday party Pam Thurman is throwing on Memorial Day for many friends reaching milestone birthdays this year, myself included, will include him. His body is gone, but out there among the stardust I’m certain he’s celebrating. We should celebrate every day, not just the milestones. Lance did. I try to. I even love the Noahesque rain days.
