Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.

Do you ever wonder what artists do with their art school projects? This is a 50 pound plaster piece from my junior year. It was a surfer based on the style of German-French artist Jean Arp. (see this example) I was never thrilled with it, but I loved the sculpting process so much that I couldn’t bare to part with it. When I bought my house I decided the cumbersome paper weight needed a purpose – or the garbage, I couldn’t decide which. I opted to let Mother Nature help me. Six years later, her vines are slow to take over, but the moss is making some headway. My beloved cat, One-Eye Jack, is buried beside it. Their love recycled warms my heart and makes me smile.
