Wally has a friend. He calls him Woof. He calls his name every evening. Sometimes I find them as Woof peers down from the power lines. Sometimes I find them in close discussion at the base of the pine tree. Usually, I find them at a comfortable distance, fence to ground. Woof is young and polite despite Wally’s constant instruction otherwise. Lately I’ve taken to talking to Woof almost as much as Wally, but with far greater affection. Woof is welcome to eat all the ticks in our yard he wants.
