Worrying does not empty tomorrow of its troubles. It empties today of its strength.

global issues in appalachia

I was asked to speak to a group of 7th graders at Morgan County Middle School. The kids were great, which speaks to the efforts of teacher Chris Trusty and Machelle Holbrook. In hearing Machelle read my life’s bio I realized that I really have done a lot of things in 47 years, probably more than most of these kids will ever do, sadly. The things that propel me, excite me, make me unafraid do something different is for some, terrifying and downright debilitating. So, I told the kids one thing I’ve found critically important; “Life is short, so be happy in your work.” I hope they heard me and take the advice. Then, on my way out of town, I saw this sign where the Methodist Church used to be. It is a shining example of people who love what they do. And it’s funny as can be, so they can’t go wrong in my book. God bless West Liberty!

Jesus is coming back…and so are we!
