Linn Smith is my friend Rich Kidd’s recently departed mother. I never had the pleasure of meeting her in person, but we chatted on facebook. I thought she was great. She raised a helluva man, too. Very often, I choose the quotes for the outhouse in the mornings. Sometimes, the kind of day I have coincides with the quote in total synchronicity. Today was one of those days. It was riddled with one road block after another, so that, by lunchtime, I was feeling rushed, disjointed, and just plain ill. But all of that was nothing more than a series of bad spots. I had a very meaningful conversation with my boss and student assistant. I had an equally meaningful conversation with a co-worker who was once a friend, but through the turmoil of the last two years had drifted far away. Forgiveness is a mighty thing. Listening is a mighty thing. Having an open heart and an open mind, these are mighty things. Their powers can change someone’s world. It was my world today, and I’m incredibly grateful for it. Thank you for the reminder, Linn.
