“Nothing you will ever achieve – ribbons, medals, dollars or thanks yours – will ever compare to the significance of being just who you are.” ~ Mike Dooley

For nearly a year I’ve been part of planning an international conference hosted by the library. As the local chair, I’ve acted as coordinator for the local affairs (with the local committee) and the local contact with the international committee. The conference is next week, and for the last three weeks, I’ve been a busy bee putting all the pieces together. This week has been especially taxing, what with trying not to forget something (no easy task with middle age menopause brain syndrome). Fortunately, I’ve had a lot of help along the way. In fact, Judy Sackett and I went out on the town today gathering lots of necessary stuff. After visiting the awesome staff at the VisitLex Center on the 20th floor in the Big Blue Building downtown, we went up to the top floor where the developers of the building have their offices. I’d never been to the top floor before. The super nice receptionist allowed us to snap a few photos from the lobby. My photos weren’t very good, frankly. The reflections were so strong that no image was without major ick (see below). But I found the scale model of downtown quite to my liking; reflections went from ick to ahh. We got a lot done today, and had a great time in the process. That’s my kind of work day.
