Besides living close enough to my parents to visit with them easily (one hundred miles is close in my estimation), there are other advantages as well, like coming home to mom’s home-made walnut raisin oatmeal cookies and home cooked green beans. My mother makes the best green beans on the planet. I ate the whole container. When mom and dad come to town for their doctor appointments, they very often stop by my house. Many times I’m at work and don’t get to see them, so it’s a sweet thing to come home to little edible offerings and happy notes. I love them, too.
