Always pray to have eyes that see the best, a heart that forgives the worst, a mind that forgets the bad, and a soul that never loses faith.” ~ Unknown

Hinman who?
Hinman who?

Don’t you wish you had a Hinman Collator? I had no idea what this thing was. It’s huge, and the way the bottom is designed (not pictured) looks like a book digitization device. But I know enough to know that wasn’t it. It also had a microscope apparatus that made me think ‘colonoscopy’. I knew that wasn’t it either. So, like the rest of the universe, I looked it up on Wikipedia. “The Hinman collator…was an opto-mechanical device for comparing pairs of documents for differences in the text.” Here’s my favorite part, “The idea built on earlier work such as Carl Pulfrich’s blink comparator…” I chuckled at ‘blink comparator,’ but it was instrumental in discovering Pluto. That’s no joke. Then again, maybe the ‘blink comparator’ is the real reason poor Pluto is no longer a planet. I love learning.
