Find the good and praise it.” – Alex Haley

I noticed an interesting statue of Thomas Jefferson. I sometimes wonder what the founding fathers would make of this country today. Would they be pleased or mortified? We’d all like to think they’d be mortified, I’m sure, but let’s face it; they had slaves and sanctioned the genocide of thousands of Native Americans. For all those enlightened ideas they had, and they really did have them, they were still fatally fallible men. Not much has changed, really. New ideas come and go. Our sense of justice and equality ebb and flow. But one thing never changes, and that’s the power of kindness and mercy. This love can change the world; one person’s world or the world. Choose love whenever possible. And it’s always possible. (I think the Dalai Lama said that, or something like it).

…but wait, there’s more! The most awesome Bob Gregory sent an outhouse photo (taken in Pendarvis, WI, October 2013). Remember: there’s still time to get your entries into the outhouse contest. The winner gets a post card and a shaved ham sandwich.
