Thelma

You met Thelma Howell way back in October 2012 before the outhouse was even a year old. In fact, I hadn’t know Thelma much longer than that when this (not very good) picture was taken the same day we were at Keeneland in the 2012 post. But you didn’t have to know Thelma long to understand that, if she liked you, she would do anything in the world she could for you. She made the best baked goods this side of the Big Sandy. We had great talks, Thelma and I. Her son, Dan, and daughter, Delinda, are salt of the Earth people just like her. So, I was very sad to learn that, yesterday, Thelma walked on unexpectedly. She’d been in great health, then – boom – just like that, gone. We never know when our time is up, but one thing I know for sure; Thelma loved her people with all her might, and she worked every day to bring joy to their lives. She set a good example for how to treat your loved ones. I’m honored to have known her.
