” The world is indeed full of peril and in it there are many dark places. But still there is much that is fair. And though in all lands, love is now mingled with grief, it still grows, perhaps, the greater.” ~ J.R.R. Tolkien

Goodness

I attended a really enlightening class event today on urban vs. rural environments and how students at UK traverse such landscapes. It broke my heart to hear some of the students confess that they walk onto our campus and feel completely alone because they don’t see anyone else like themselves. It’s not all about skin color and it’s not just our campus. I would have left despondent were it not for the hope and understanding they’d each received through their studies, especially through Professor Rosie Moosnick’s course where they discovered that they’re not as different as they thought, nor is anyone else. There are some really great professors at UK. Rosie is one of them and it’s been a real blessing to work with her and get to know her.
