This is not a technically stellar, or even abstractly interesting, photograph unless you’re a Terry. But, if you are, then you’re probably laughing. AJ Watkins has grown to the point where he enjoys the company of adults more than that of his younger cousins. At thirteen, he’s not afraid to speak his mind, or stick out his tongue, whichever comes first. Meanwhile, aunt Barbara Schirmer comes with her own set of facial expressions that are no less entertaining. They, along with my other aunts and cousins, helped make my birthday weekend one of the best ever. The Barbie candle alone was worth remembering.
AJ: Why is there a Barbie candle on your cake?
Aunt Lois: Because Kopana and Missy used to play Barbies downstairs all the time. <winks at me since it wasn’t true>
Cousin-in-law Mike: If it didn’t involve a drumstick I just don’t see Kopana playing with it.
My family always make me laugh, and their surprise birthday cake and singing made my day. I adore them.
