“In the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures. For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.” ~ Khalil Gibran
It’s a pity the photo is blurry because the smile sure wasn’t. I went to a discussion by friend and author Normandi Ellis at Morris Books this afternoon. Her latest, The Union of Isis and Thoth, concerns preparing ourselves for the divine, and seeing everything in nature as divine; concepts presented through Normandi’s extensive knowledge and background in ancient Egypt including Coptic Christianity, which I find totally fascinating, of course. What I loved most about the discussion was how welcoming she was of questions. Normandi is so interesting, and I’ve enjoyed getting to know her through our shared friend, Deb Chenault. She also attended today’s talk, and then joined me for a bite afterward. I thought it interesting that both women, independent of one another, talked about their aging parents and all that entails; talk I needed to hear as I usher my parents through their golden years. It was a lovely, informative, deeply interesting afternoon and I’m thankful to Normandi and Deb for their grace and openness.
