the great grands

One of the great blessings of life is knowing and hanging out with older folks. Bill and Janet Bick are two of my favorites. At (I think) 93 and 87 respectively, they are as engaged, and engaging, as anyone I know. Perhaps both having been educators explains why they remain as in-the-game as people half their ages. In case you haven’t connected the dots yet, they are the in-laws of rental sister Pam Bick, grandparents to rental niece Cassie, and great-grandparents to Ellie Rose who just turned one. And, just like the rentals, Bill and Janet are as kind and warm as they look. At Ellie’s birthday, where I photographed them, Bill and I learned we’re both only children. We waxed poetic the ways we learned to entertain ourselves from a very early age, which builds a certain kind resourcefulness that folks with siblings may not find. I enjoyed our exchange very much, and I really enjoyed watching them with their great-grandchildren. It made for a very sweet day. Plus, they’re just so darn cute together.
