During the first weekend of December Michler’s Florist and Greenhouse hosted a great little Christmas Fair that included various arts and craftspersons. Many were not the usual artists I see at area arts festivals. One such artist is quite new, in fact: my friend LaTosha Hall a.k.a. The Midnight Felter. She makes these incredibly sweet woodland creatures, rabbits mostly. They are one-of-a-kind wool sculptures she calls Wool Babies. I’m not entirely sure how her process works, I only know the results are as adorable as can be. Carwen, above, is also a music box that plays Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies. She’s one of the larger creatures standing about 14″ tall.

Most of the Wool Babies, especially the ones without music boxes, are petite, adding to their squeee-ability. LaTosha had sold out all her small babies by the time I got to the fair. That was very exciting as this was her first foray into festival-land. She sells most of her work in her etsy shop. I’m really proud of LaTosha for putting her work out there for the world to enjoy. Her Wool Babies are just sweet as can be with such whimsical personality, like her. I’m lucky to have such gifted friends.
