Forgive those who have hurt you – it is your present to them.
Forget those who have hurt you – it is your present to yourself. ~ Agni

chicken little staring at you (Camera+)

I read this bit of wisdom yesterday and the light of my soul surged to a brilliant blinding white. It got me through a moment that could have been, and maybe should have been, a bit more steeped in truth. Lessons confront us all. It’s what we do with them that matters.

Kopana, I agree that the lessons confront us every day and the key is what we do with them. Hide from them? Ignore them? Or, learn from them. What I take issue with is the forget part. I believe in forgiveness. I don’t think our brain lets us forget. I think forgiveness is the gift we give ourselves. Long live forgiveness.

Indeed it is very hard to forget, isn’t it? I think, for me at least, forgetting in this context is more about moving on and not dwelling on the person(s) or situations rather than the physical (mental) act of forgetting. That said, I have actually forgotten some things that have been done to me, including the people. There’s been more than one time when I’ve been reminded of them. Of course, once reminded it did come back to me so, again, your point that the brain does not forget is valid.

Still, I’d rather not dwell on hurt so, I’m just gonna (try to) forget it. That’s impossible to do if you haven’t achieved forgiveness first. Forgiveness is key.

amen! I have forgiven and felt great relief. I’ve moved on and yet in the moment of memory when the pain still stabs, I have to go back and do it all again. It’s a valuable practice and yes, oh so liberating! Beautiful processing on your photo! What are you using?

Next to each photo’s caption it should/will name the app used. That also means it came from my iPhone 3G (yup, the old model). If the photo credits nothing, then it came from my Canon 40D. If any of those images have been manipulated, it was either a Topaz plugin or an action I picked up along the way (Lord knows I couldn’t find their origin now if I had to).
