“Live so fully that Westboro Baptist Church will picket your funeral.” ~ Unknown
For a while now my friend LaTosha Hall has been working on Fridays at The Clock Shop on Short Street. If memory serves, she met Edgar the owner (above in his standard Edgar pose) when she happened in to ask his help with music boxes for her handmade felt rabbits. They struck up a friendship and she’s been lending a hand, and learning the art of clock repair, ever since. I’ve threatened to come see her in the shop for probably two years. On Friday, the universe saw fit to have a parking spot open in front of the shop. I had to go in! The window display has fascinated me for years, so I suspected the inside would, too. It did not disappoint. It was like walking into a shop straight out of a Harry Potter novel. LaTosha introduced me to Edgar and I saw immediately why she hangs out with him. Here is a man with thousands of stories, who has led many lives in this one life, who loves simple pleasures and magic. Half the store is filled with magician wares and toys, and the other half with clocks of every kind you can imagine. meeting Edgar (sadly I didn’t catch his last name) was a pure delight, and LaTosha is always fun to be around. Together, they helped make Friday an incredible day.
