Kelly Richey and I go way back. Though neither of us ever set out to record together,
somehow I ended up on three of her many CDs starting with her first, Sister's Got A Problem. I played percussion
on a few tracks while Terry Williamson and Shawn Wells filled out the band, and rightfully so.

I'm driving down the street one day listening to a local college station when a very
familiar song comes on. I recognize Kelly's voice but there is something else familiar about the track - like a face in the crowd you're sure you know. A few bars in I realize it's me! I was what I
recognized. The title track from
Eyes Of A Woman had been a session I thought was dead and gone. So, you can imagine
my surprise when it was blaring out of my speakers. In fact, I'm not entirely sure why she kept it...but I'm glad she did. It also featured former
KRB bassist Terry Williamson as well as pianist Keith Hubbard. It was recorded at Neuotica Studios by Duane Adams. In case you didn't notice,
the Goldenberg listed on the writing credits is none other than my bandmate from U.S. 27, Jay Goldenberg.
Eyes Of A Woman was a real step up for Kelly. It was produced by Scott Mullins and, title track aside, they called on a fantastic
stable of Louisville-based musicians to fill out the CD like Rusty Ends, Jim Baugher, Gene Wickliffe, David Barrickman,
Tanita Gaines,
Robbie Bartlett and Jim Rosen (R.I.P. 1997). She even added horns courtesy Kenny Bechtloff, Gary Hicks, and Tom Jolly!

Abandoning the slick production Mullins provided, Richey returned to her
band and friends for
Dig A LIttle Deeper. KRB regular bassist, Terry Williamson, appears as well as drummer
Eric Mayleben. She called on Stealin Horses pal
Kiya Heartwood to play on and produce the record while
enlisting Wishing Chair's
Miriam Davidson Reel World String Band's
Sharon Ruble pianist Keith Hubbard
and a beavy of percussionists including myself and
Tripp Bratton.
