May the road rise up to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face
May the rain fall soft upon your fields
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

My mother finds the most unusual trinkets, like this hummingbird that appears to have flown through the window glass to make friends with the hummingbird on my tea bag coaster that adorns the window’s handle. I hate long sentences. Mom and I placed the little bird in the window, then stood back in silence. Finally, I said, “Well….that’s odd.” Expecting her to disagree, after all it was her idea, she said, “Well……yea, it is odd. Very odd.” After a small pause, we had a good laugh. We laughed even more when the cats, one by one, carefully approached the bird, sniffed a while, then bit the one wing they could reach. They were confounded when the bird didn’t react. I love it! Since my new little cat trick bird is green, it’s only fitting it should represent Saint Patrick’s Day. Please spell responsibly – it’s St. Paddy’s Day because St. Patrick, as the name suggests, was a dude. Éirinn go Brách!
