Art and happiness do not need permission!” ~ Jeanne Marie Hibberd

I went to Keeneland Library where Becky Ryder is director. I needed video footage of her snapping polyester microfilm. That doesn’t make any sense if you don’t know anything about microfilm, but trust me on this, it’s a hoot. I had the best time with her. We talked and laughed and talked and laughed some more. I’ve always admired Becky’s enthusiasm for her work, and her sunny disposition to life in general. It’s infectious, really. She’s brimming with ideas and a ‘can do’ attitude all the time. I miss working along side her for all those reasons, but also because she’s extraordinarily smart, capable, witty, a lover of animals, politically and socially attuned, and genuinely kind. There aren’t many people who are the whole package, but Becky’s all that and a bag of Doritos. I’ve been extremely blessed to have her in my life as a mentor, but more importantly as a friend.
