“And what, you ask, does writing teach us? First and foremost, it reminds us that we are alive and that it is a gift and privilege, not a right.” ~ Ray Bradbury

This was my view of last night’s worm moon from the Morgan County Appalachian Regional Hospital (ARH). I had enjoyed a day with mom, dad, and Aunt Janet. Headed home to Lexington on I-64, my phone rang at Mt. Sterling, and I headed back to West Liberty. Mom was in the ER at ARH. Fast forward a few hours, and I had her at the ER at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center. Fast forward another fourteen hours, and she was released, her pain passably under control. I have to say, if I had to spend another fourteen hours in the ER, I’d want to do it at UK. I can’t say enough wonderful things about their professionalism and kindness. As for my poor little mama, I said prayers for her as I cat napped bolt upright in the chair next to her overnight. I’ll say even more when I lay down tonight.
