“Every time you say yes to something you don’t really want,
you’re actually saying no to the things you do.” ~ Tom Hanks

The picture doesn’t look like much, so let me tell you what happened. Sunday evening I strained my back doing nothing special, so I walked like an old woman all day. I came home from work and fired up the grill thinking a burger would make me feel better. I invited Stacy Yelton to join me. Wally was mesmerized by the back of the yard, so I moved his lead to the apple tree nearest the grill. It wasn’t long before I thought I’d move Wally closer to the house so he could play with Stacy. While I was unhooking the lead from the tree, he spotted a squirrel and took off. When he reached the end of the lead, it wrapped around my ankle and took me down faster than lightening. I heard a crack. The pain was immediate. In fact, I thought I’d snapped my leg at the knee. When I finally got the pain to calm down, I realized the problem wasn’t really my knee but my foot. Stacy helped me to my feet, we ate our burgers, I set my dislocated knee (I’ve done it before believe it or not), and then we calmly drove to UK’s ER where we spent the next 4.5 hours. The verdict was a bad sprain of my foot. They fixed me up with a splint, crutches, and sent me home. I’ve always heard that a sprain is worse than a break. I’ve had plenty of broken bones, and this was one of the worst pains ever. I’m not sure I totally believe it’s not broken, but if it really is just sprained, then “they” are right. Everybody at UK was super to me, and Stacy was totally entertaining. Wally was not the least bit remorseful. I love him anyway. On the positive side, my back feels a lot better.
