“Hope is the pillar that holds up the world. Hope is the dream of a waking man.”
~ Pliny the Elder
I got a big ‘ol visit from my long lost friend Sandy Rodriguiz today. This is her first appearance in the outhouse. We were co-workers while simultaneously suffering Library School together way back in the early 2000’s. She graduated first, with distinction (unlike me), and not long afterward accepted a job out of state, first in Arkansas then in Kansas where she remains. She is an ace librarian, but much more importantly, she’s an awesome person. We used to go to lunch and have the best talks. She has a very funny sense of humor; always a winner in my book. Today, I was pleased to meet her new beau whose name I warned I would forget. I think his name is Derek… maybe…or Dustin. In any case, he’s cute and sweet, but then, Sandy always could pick ’em. She’s a pistol, and I’m mighty proud she calls me friend. I’m honored she could find time in her very busy travel schedule to drop by to see me. I need a trip to Kansas to return the favor.
