“The most glorious moments in your life are not the so-called days of success, but rather those days when out of dejection and despair you feel rise in you a challenge to life, and the promise of future accomplishments.” ~ Gustave Flaubert

The mid-term general election was today. I waited an hour to cast my vote, and when I left, the line was longer than when I got there. It was energizing to see such a large turnout, and it was like that all over town. I was happy to wait, and would have gladly waited longer if necessary. It’s vital every person of voting age exercise their civic duty. For women and people of color, many, many people risked life and limb to earn us the ability to vote. Even in years when I feel like my vote doesn’t matter (which is way too often), I vote anyway because someone in history worked hard to earn me the right to be heard. I thank them with every ballot I cast.
