Back at Pickin’ in the Park I did some trading with Ron Gevedon. In addition to his Coal Babies, he’s now making these hilarious pigs. They’re all tongue-in-cheek pig jokes. You’ll notice that my pig has a cape because my pig can fly. He had another pig rolled in a blanket. You get the idea. They’re very funny. I also got one of his small paintings. This house reminds me of Mamaw and Papaw Terry’s house even though the house they lived in the longest looked nothing like this painting. But the house they had at the head of Railroad Fork shared some similarities. Mostly, though, I was drawn to the painting because it has a very warm feeling about it. It says “home” to me. I’ve gotten a fine collection of Ron Gevedon work over the years. I love every piece, and wouldn’t take anything for any one of them.
