I had one of the funnest 10 minutes today and I didn’t really do anything. John Duncan and Jordyn Rhorer from my creative writing class were in need of two “older” women for a project in another class. Their project involves writing a script, then using iPhones or iPads, they have to create a short film of that script. The two writers were having real trouble finding “older” women, or even just women willing to pretend to be older. Apparently, many women take offense at even the slightest hint that they might be “older”. I knew I could help out. Why? Because all the women in Special Collections are comfortable with who they are. Stacie Williams and Marie Dale didn’t hesitate to help out even though neither are as old as the script required. Our job as librarian/archivists is to help our students. Well done, ladies. I’m so proud that you embraced the impromptu challenge without fear of being “older”.
