It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is most adaptable to change.” ~ Charles Darwin

Look at that enthusiasm. That’s my dear friend Becky Ryder. She’s the Director of Keeneland Library.  You’ll never meet a more enthusiastic woman. Ever! I joined her and friends Liz Stoll and Dan, Delinda, and Thelma Howell at Keeneland for the day. The Howell’s own the remains of Jack Keene’s first race course in Raceland, Kentucky. Liz is Keene’s grand-niece. Collectively, they’ve been rebuilding the history of the track. I met them last year during one of their fact gathering missions and we really hit it off. Dan was one of the first people to call me after the tornado. That’s the kind of people they are. Today, matriarch Thelma showered us with homemade cookies and candy. Then, between races, she and I had the best talk about our grandmothers. It was a gorgeous day filled with fellowship and kindness – just my kinda day.
