“Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies.” ~ Mother Teresa Back in 2014 I wrote about Antioch Christian Church on Fourth Street. Its windows were boarded up and operating as an appointment only antique shop. I was by there a couple of weeks ago. Its windows remain boarded shut. I assume it’s still an antique shop, but I don’t really know.
“The moment you start acting like life is a blessing, it starts felling like one.” ~ Unknown I passed this door in the basement of Patterson Office Tower. I assume it’s a classroom. No matter what’s behind the door, I love the message. I’m going to leave it here for you to enjoy.
“Surround yourself with tacos not negativity.” ~ Unknown Today the world got a little less bright when Allen Smith walked through the door to the other side. He took with him a lifetime of love for, and from, many people. I was lucky to be one of them. I never saw him without a smile on his face and a kind word. He was genuinely one of the
“We think that the point is to pass the test or overcome the problem, but the truth is that things don’t really get solved. They come together and they fall apart. Then they come together again and fall apart again. It’s just like that. The healing comes from letting there be room for all of this to happen: room for grief, for relief, for misery, for joy.” ~ Pema Chodron
“At the center of your being you have the answer; you know who you are and you know what you want.” ~ Lao Tzu Suddenly, this really nice woman appeared in my office holding a door sign. Doug whipped out his camera and declared this a special occasion. That hadn’t occurred to me, but the more I thought about it, the more I thought he was on to something. Christmas came
“Be kinder to yourself. And then let your kindness flood the world.” ~ Pema Chödron The cats are admiring the neighbor’s Christmas lights.
“Your mind will answer most questions if you learn to relax and wait for the answer.” ~ William S. Burroughs Some days are busier than others. Some days or more fun than others. Some days are busy and fun, like today for instance. I lent a hand to Gordon Hogg whose cute little truck threw a clutch last night. We first stopped by the mechanic’s place. Gordon was only in
“I think that we are like stars. Something happens to burst us open, but when we burst open and think we are dying, we’re actually turning into a supernova. And then when we look at ourselves again, we see that we’re suddenly more beautiful than we ever were before!” ~ C. JoyBell C. There are two public entrances into the library. One has the Nation of Nations panels by Marjorie
“Don’t judge someone just because they sin differently than you.” ~ Unknown This was the door to my grandmother’s garage that was saved after the tornado. I really wish I had done a before picture because it was filthy, unpainted (flat grey), and covered in some weird glue used to attach one side of the window pane. I spent my day painting it to match my front door. I’ll use
“Not all those who wander are lost” ~ J.R.R. Tolkien I had my picture for the day. When you run into a BFF you haven’t seen in a really, really long time – like Esther Edwards, her son Nathaniel, and husband Ernie – no other pictures matter. Good friends are so hard to come by. I am grateful to Esther for being mine. We worked together until she took another position.
