Love doesn’t mean doing extraordinary or heroic things.
It means knowing how to do ordinary things with tenderness.
~ Jean Vanier

I had a beach house in Barrow, Alaska. Major entertainment was watching pressure ridges grow and shift with each high tide or wind storm. It’s true. I lived on the water’s edge but I never saw the beach or the ocean. Unlike Barrow, I have actually seen my lawn, but these icicles are getting pretty dang impressive, like some of those towering ice ridges. When I was a kid we used to have winters like this nearly every year in Kentucky. I’ve seen icicles grow from the roof to the ground. Now those were awesome to behold. I love winter. It can be magical. I’m really thankful for this winter, and especially thankful for my working furnace.
