It’s okay to fall apart sometimes. Tacos fall apart and we still love them.” ~ Unknown

Apple blossoms on my Jonathan Apple tree. They weren’t as plentiful this year as they have been in the past. Partly because we had a mild winter (they seem to prefer longer colds spells), and partly because I didn’t trim them when I should have. Back in February, when the trimming would have been perfect, their shapes were also perfect and I just didn’t have the heart to do it. Of course, now that they’re loaded with leaves, I wish I had. Still, a year’s growth isn’t going to hurt and I still got the beautiful blossoms.

The early warmth of spring didn’t make my apple trees very happy. They’re much more in favor of this Redbud winter we’re experiencing. Of all the blossoms of spring my favorite are my granny apple trees: a Jonathan for Mamaw Terry and a Crabapple for Mamaw Adams. The women brought me great joy when they were alive. The trees planted in their memories continue to bring me joy. Thankfully┬áthe blossoms are finally getting the weather they need.
