on the road again

The Rental Sisters and Rental Niece, Cassie, met at Shakertown for a whirlwind 24 hour historic, walking, gastric extravaganza. Despite the short stay, and even the Sunday wet weather, we had a wonderful time together as always. We’re determined to go back for many of the hiking trails, the river boat, and more Shaker inspired food. I love my rental family.

long distance grandparents

When your grandchild can’t make it to the party, facetime to the rescue. Aren’t they adorable? These two: I love them so. They create love and harmony everywhere they go.

Stacy (snapseed)

On my way back from Oklahoma I stopped in St. Louis to see Rental Sister and BIL Kelly and Craig Barnes. I got a special bonus when I walked in to find Stacy Jansen, too! She’s also been adopted, so it was like old home night in Webster Groves. Craig, being the master chef he is, made dinner for us. We ate and talked about art and medicine and politics and family. Being with them is always a highlight, but this stop was particularly joyful for some reason. Whatever that reason(s) may have been, I’m eternally grateful for all of them and so happy we could spend a few quality hours together.

“So many people are searching for the meaning of life instead of giving their lives meaning. Find something more important than yourself to dedicate your life to, and do that (something, not someone), and watch your world shift.” ~ Timber Hawkeye

real sisters (snapseed)

It’s been a wedding day unlike any other. I awoke at 6:15am and watched live the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. It was a really, really, really remarkable wedding for so many reasons. Honestly, American Bishop Curry stole the show. He gave a brilliant sermon/speech that, had it been in an American church, the chapel would have echoed with amens start to finish. It was a great way to start the day as Stacy and I travelled to Cincinnati to attend Connor Barnes’ wedding later in the day. As you may recall, Connor is the son of rental sister and BIL Kelly and Craig Barnes. He’s also the youngest of the Yelton grandchildren and the last to marry. It was a fabulous wedding full of love and laughter and Connor showing off his mad rapping skills. I was honored to be among them. I love having rental sisters.
