“Cultivate a talent for whimsy.” ~ Dr. SunWolf Growing up, I remember many a football game framed by beautiful sunsets. The Sorghum Bowl of 2014 lived up to those memories. Back then, the field was inside a double fence with ivy growing up its chain links. The vines had become so tall and thick that it formed a canopy you could walk through like a tunnel. It was dark like a tunnel, too.
“May we not take one sweet day for granted, may we give thanks for all the human and animal blessings that flow in and around and upon us. May we close our eyes, now and again, in simple gratitude.” ~ Nikky Finney One of the great things about getting out of a late class in fall is the sunset. Enjoy!
“Turn your smile up before you go out in public, you may be the only light in someone’s day.” ~ Deni Fearman Even with a broken heart Angie Bliss Fanning appreciates a good Oklahoma sunset. A steady, slow rain moved through. As it moved out it made a beautiful painted sky. We took a ride to the fence in the golf cart to see it set and have
“You can’t force someone to respect you, but you can refuse to be disrespected.” ~ Unknown Today was BFF Angie Bliss Fanning’s birthday. Yesterday’s birthday girl, HRB Crystal Heis, had to stand in for Ang since she’s in Oklahoma. To honor Angie, Crystal and I ran around, up to no good, during work. Then, I got to laugh with Ang on the phone so, it worked out okay.
“There is not one blade of grass, there is no color in this world that is not intended to make us rejoice.” ~ John Calvin We’re still getting snow. I know quite a few people that suffer from SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder), and they desperately need more light in their day. So, I went back to a beautiful sunset I caught in January. Whether you have SAD, or like me,
“Don’t waste your time worrying. Worry is not preparation. Analyze the situation and focus on solutions. There is always an answer.” ~ Wally Amos Yesterday…. …and today…..
“Some days there won’t be a song in your heart. Sing anyway.” ~ Emory Austin I caught the sunset’s reflection in the walkway windows; an angelic vestige of the day. It was a particularly meaningful day for many reasons, on many levels. We’re never promised tomorrow. Best to snap the sunsets right now. They’re all beautiful.
“If everybody’s not beautiful, then nobody is.” ~ Andy Warhol This isn’t the best shot I could have gotten of the sunset reflecting off the downtown buildings, but any shot was more inspiring than what I passed earlier. I remain ever grateful to live in a country where free speech can be practiced (note that this demonstration was not in the “free speech” area of campus), and freedom to walk
“Life’s blows cannot break a person whose spirit is warmed at the fire of enthusiasm.” ~ Norman Vincent Peale It was a gorgeous sunset. Even as I’m thankful for all I have, for the wonderful people that surround me, for all the fortune and joy I’ve been given in this life, something beautiful like this sunset reminds me that maybe I’m not thankful enough. There’s always more to be thankful
“Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, … whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; … Think on these things.” ~ Phillipians 4:8 We made it to Rosemary Beach, Florida in time for the bonfire thrown as a pre-wedding gathering for Stacy’s niece, Taylor Barnes, and Ashley Cundiff. I had a chance to meet Stacy Jansen’s daughter, Carley, above. I liked
