Even with a broken heart Angie Bliss Fanning appreciates a good Oklahoma sunset. A steady, slow rain moved through. As it moved out it made a beautiful painted sky. We took a ride to the fence in the golf cart to see it set and have a long talk. The rain left a rainbow somewhat visible just to Angie’s left. Rainbows are a sign of hope. There is a lot of hope left in this world… for Angie, for Judge, and for all of Jerry’s family and friends.

Today was BFF Angie Bliss Fanning’s birthday. Yesterday’s birthday girl, HRB Crystal Heis, had to stand in for Ang since she’s in Oklahoma. To honor Angie, Crystal and I ran around, up to no good, during work. Then, I got to laugh with Ang on the phone so, it worked out okay. Stacy Yelton and I did our Frisch’s Friday routine, then finished the day with an adventure in search of churches. It was, after all, an absolutely perfect Kentucky spring day. Every Friday should be this good. Lucky for me, with these incredible people in my life, most of them are.

We’re still getting snow. I know quite a few people that suffer from SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder), and they desperately need more light in their day. So, I went back to a beautiful sunset I caught in January. Whether you have SAD, or like me, enjoy winter, may this setting sun warm your heart, and bring light into your life. We live on a gorgeous planet. Rejoice and be glad.

I caught the sunset’s reflection in the walkway windows; an angelic vestige of the day. It was a particularly meaningful day for many reasons, on many levels. We’re never promised tomorrow. Best to snap the sunsets right now. They’re all beautiful.

This isn’t the best shot I could have gotten of the sunset reflecting off the downtown buildings, but any shot was more inspiring than what I passed earlier. I remain ever grateful to live in a country where free speech can be practiced (note that this demonstration was not in the “free speech” area of campus), and freedom to walk away encouraged.

Life’s blows cannot break a person whose spirit is warmed at the fire of enthusiasm.

It was a gorgeous sunset. Even as I’m thankful for all I have, for the wonderful people that surround me, for all the fortune and joy I’ve been given in this life, something beautiful like this sunset reminds me that maybe I’m not thankful enough. There’s always more to be thankful for. Fall in Kentucky is stunning, and I am eternally grateful to be here for it.

We made it to Rosemary Beach, Florida in time for the bonfire thrown as a pre-wedding gathering for Stacy’s niece, Taylor Barnes, and Ashley Cundiff. I had a chance to meet Stacy Jansen’s daughter, Carley, above. I liked her immediately. She was engaging, smart, looked me in the eye, and most importantly, she has the same kind spirit as her mother. She even made smores for her mom at the beach. I love meeting young people who are sweet and thoughtful. Carley’s a keeper and I’m so thankful to have met her.

Day three in Water World, formerly known as Kentucky, demanded out-of-the-house entertainment. Enter: Despicable Me 2. While not as fun as the first, the sequel nevertheless has its moments. I adore minions. I turn into a child when I see one. The buttered popcorn, on the other: I think that’s a food to be avoided forever more. It was a lovely affair while it lasted.

ADDENDUM TO ORIGINAL POST 10:22PM: Stacy and I walked outside to find this, and my awesome neighbor, Kevin, joined us! Stacy said, “God has fulfilled his promise.”
