which means never losing your enthusiasm.” ~ Aldous Huxley

Our shero was feeling great today. That’s why I was surprised when I got a call saying she was headed to UK ER because her white cell count was elevated, even though yesterday’s temp had broken overnight. After a cadre of doctors looked at her wound she asked to see it for herself, made possible only by a photo of course. Then she asked me to count the staples: 84. That’s impressive indeed! They admitted our shero and started broad spectrum antibiotics. She has a spot of pneumonia in her left lung, and might possibly have an infection elsewhere, including deep in her leg, not near the wound. Despite it’s angry appearance, she’s healing nicely by all accounts. In fact, to look at her, and to talk with her, you’d never know anything was wrong. That’s why she was sorely disappointed at her setback. Nevertheless, I’m confident the UK docs will have her back running the halls on her walker in no time. Until then, all healing thoughts, prayers, sage, incense, and lighted candles gratefully accepted. I’m telling you, she is the toughest woman I’ve ever known.

    Quite clearly it’s genetic….the toughness I mean.
We will continue to send love and healing prayers to you mom and her loved ones.

Being ill is hard…but knowing that your loved ones are taking care of you may be even harder, especially if you’ve taken care of loved ones yourself. Because you know that maybe – that is hardest job of all….Watching someone you love, so desperately, knowing they’re in danger and in pain and having to depend on the skill, luck, or commitment of others to help your loved one head.
I know that you know this but just in case…don’t forget to breath and take care of you too. ❤️

Love her dearly and hate that she is back in the hospital. She is tough. She will bounce back in no time! Love you, Shero Shirley!
