I’ve maybe missed one day in the 2.5 years of the outhouse. Yesterday adds another notch to that list. It was one of the most heart wrenching days I’ve ever experienced. I went to the funeral home with Angie and her family to make arrangements for her husband, Jerry. His parents were there, too. I learned so much about the depths of grief; unconditional love; compassion, and some other things I might write down when the dust settles. Today was better day. I spent about 14 hours making Jerry’s retrospective video for the service Thursday. I probably should have been sad, but it actually helped me. He was one of the happiest men I ever met, and it was written all over his face, even when he was child. He lived his life to the fullest. This chicken, one of seven chickens that belong to Robin Jackson and Steve Kirkpatrick, has absolutely nothing to do with Jerry. Rather, it’s more the way the last two days have felt. There’s some focus in all that blur.
