brrrrrrr (colorsplash)

These poor little flowers outside my backdoor have endured multiple freezes in the last two weeks, and yet they’ve managed to hang on. Such a show of resilience is heartening. Imagine my (and ultimately their) surprise when the freeze warning on my phone went off again this morning. The poor trees that tried to bloom have already been shocked into dropping their typically beautiful, but now long-browned, blooms. It was so warm in late winter that some of them skipped the bloom and went straight to leaf. Those trees are cold now, I tell you. Cold! So, we’ll miss having our usual colorful Kentucky spring, but my apple trees love the cold snap(s). I’m alright with that because I love my grandma apple trees, and I’m hoping to get even more fruit from them this year as a result. I just have to get to them before the squirrels do.

You are right, flowers are going to be late now due to the cold weather. I like apples too.
