For me and Stacy Yelton, breakfast at Winchell’s is never bad, but today the food wasn’t what made it great. It was Catherine Brereton and Susan Stewart that made it spectacular. They’re two of the smartest, funniest women I’ve ever met. I was snorting. Hilarity aside, their intellect, particularly in the field of creative writing, is incredibly refreshing. Our conversation really set my mind to spinning. If only I’d snapped a better pic of them, though I’m sure Susan has a snappy comeback about that. However, she’ll be hard pressed to top her description of a coffee mug with a squirrel in the bottom: “Nothing says ‘yum’ like a rodent.” <snort>
