This is the only way my kitchen will ever look big. The alcove for the washer and dryer is too small, so they stick out into the already tiny space. Nevertheless, it’s mine and for that I am eternally grateful. I also continue to process my DC photos and be thankful for that opportunity. Today, I came across the two people who have been rocks for me; Library of Congress’ Deborah Thomas and Nathan Yarasavage. When I met Deb eight years ago she was hard to talk to. As I came to understand how the Library of Congress operates, her apprehension made sense. Now, look at that genuine smile. She’s an extremely intellectual woman with a passion for learning. It’s contagious. Nathan was a breath of fresh air from the moment I met him two years later as the Illinois awardee representative (he’s with LC now, too). He’s so uber smart, patient, and sweet that I just want to hug him every time I see him. Transcending colleague status, he’s got staying power in my world of friends, and Deb will always be welcomed to supper at my house.
